Highlights of the year – teccrab inc. 2013 review

Posted on

teccrab-inc-wp-bannerIt is the time of the year where we take a moment to review the events of the ending year and plan for the upcoming one. I do of course the same for teccrab inc. and would like to use this post to give you a little inside or behind the sense if you want.

In 2013 we manly tried to concentrate on building a solid foundation, to plan ahead and to continue growing. We partnered with incredible talented individuals as well as fantastic organizations around the world. Those partnerships helped us not just to increase the quality of our core business but also providing high class services in areas related to ours. From Hosting to Web Design, from Online Marketing to Public Relations Services to Video Productions and even Event Management, we are able to provide services that can help a business to promote themselves.

In June we opened our consultation location and moved into a part of the office space from INTERNeX. This new location allows us to offer seminars and can function as a studio for video production. It is easy accessible for our clients and has enough room to secure a healthy growth of teccrab inc.

We were very excited to support last year some fantastic app developers who created interesting applications and hope to continue working with them in the future. One of those applications is MyPoi, we posted about this interesting app a couple weeks ago.

Please Read: Introducing MyPoi (My Point of interest)

We also helped new clients such as Craig to establish and to grow an online community and to promote his Blog as well as his related hairstyle business. If you would like to learn more about him please read the following article:

Introducing tangledthoughts.ca

But also clients we started working with in 2012, where teccrab inc. was founded, continued trusting our services and can report a healthy growth. We are of course talking about MarioFit.ca and would like to mention our related Blogpost:

MarioFit – a year later

One of our closest partners is of course INTERNeX International Exchange Ltd. In 2013 we produced for and with them many interesting videos for their clients. This project was driven by the PR interns of INTERNeX and our role was mainly production and post production support. The PR interns picked the locations for the INTERNeX Explorer and wrote their own scripts. We filmed them in different locations and provided the footage back to the interns who did the editing in most cases. The video was uploaded to YouTube almost every week. Unfortunately, because of changes in the PR team as well as technical problems, we couldn’t continue producing those videos, but plan to do it again in 2014.
If you like to see some of those videos please check one of the episodes here:

teccrab presents INTERNeX HiGHLIGHTS of the week Ep. 8/2013

But the HiGHLIGHTS of the week and the INTERNeX Explorer are of course not the only projects planed for 2014. We have plans to offer seminars for small businesses as well as individuals who would like to learn more about the benefits and also risks of social media platforms.

A social media management package designed for small businesses and startups is another project on our list. Our plan is to include in this deal a lot of services to get a small business started as well as support to manage and build an audience. We will also make changes in out team, would like to get new people on board to increase our productivity and to secure our known quality. A career page will be available on our website shortly.

We would like to thank everyone who trusted us with their business, everyone who partnered with us and everyone who is considering using our service in the future. We hope you all can look back on 2013 and can at least say to yourself that the experience you gained will help you in the future. For 2014 we wish everyone a fantastic start and look forward to continue or start working with you.

Cheers

Social Media – Possible Game Changers in 2014

Posted on

SocialMedia2013vs2014Before we all go into our well deserved Holiday Mode we would like to encourage you to take a moment to read this post with our opinion on the topic Social Media in 2014. If you follow the changes some platforms made or announced in 2013 you can maybe already guess what will become important for your business in 2014. But for those who are not following every single announcement or like to hear what we think, please read on to see our prediction for 2014.

Let us start with online videos. We think this will play a much more important role in 2014. Some social media experts pointed already last year out that 2013 is the year where you need to start a YouTube Channel and we think everyone who did will have an advantage in 2014. Not necessarily because of subscribers but because they already know what works for their business and what not. How much they need to invest in 2014 and how often they need to produce videos to keep their audience entertained and informed.

videoWhen talking about videos we need to talk about video advertisement too. Video ads will also become more important in 2014. But we think you should be careful because video ads can also become an annoying factor in 2014. You may have seen the announcement from Facebook regarding video ads in their newsfeed. We are sceptical and would like you to imagine the following to understand why we are not sure that this is a good idea. Imagine you login to your Facebook account and suddenly hundreds of video ads play their message at the same time. Well, even one or two at the same time will be annoying don’t you think? Now imagine your target group will get your video message on Facebook and the reaction might be that they are annoyed by it and do not buy your product or ask for your service just because of an automatically played video ad on Facebook.

prSince we are on the topic. Did you noticed that the Rating System on your company Facebook Page is now much more visible? The rating system was implemented a while ago and is around for some time now, but was never really a big part of a company Facebook Page until recently. Now the problem is, and we know that as a fact, if you have only a few followers and even fewer rate your site just one bad rating and you end up with a low overall score. Bigger companies with many ratings may not need to concern themselves with this, but small business owner should. Because one bad rating and you suddenly have to deal with a two star overall rating and this can become a problem to encourage new customers to try your product and services.

SEO and SEMWe are sure you have noticed that videos are the main thing that will become more important in 2014, but we also would like to mention copyright issues on YouTube. If you create a video, upload this to YouTube and include any kind of footage, sound effect or music that is not 100% yours, it can happen that suddenly an ad, even if you are not monetizing your videos, is playing in front of your video. This is because of the Copyright ID system from YouTube which became an important debate in the YouTube Gamer Community. We posted about this in one of our previous posts which you can find here: “Google / YouTube Copyright controversy

We hope that our post gave you a few ideas what to do in 2014 with your Social Media and Online Marketing Strategy and Budget. What do you think will become important and to watch out for in 2014? Leave a comment below and we wish everyone a Great Holliday Season.

Introducing MyPoi (My Point of interest)

Posted on Updated on

MyPoi LogoToday we would like to give you our first impression of an application called MyPoi. This application is at the moment in an early stage but still something we think you should check out. What you can do with MyPoi is saving your special places, your points of interest by pinpointing them to a map and adding tag(s) to it. You can share this place with your friends, family and colleagues or of course use MyPoi to find this special spot yourself again.

MyPoi_ScreenshotYou can download MyPoi for free and creating an account is also free. When you start the application it will show you a list of your Poi’s sorted by the date you added them. Via the Plus button you can easily add another point of interest. The available fields at the moment are a Title and a Note Box. The Note Box can be used for tagging. Below them you will find a switch to either save your point of interest public or not. MyPoi is designed to work offline too, so you can add your Poi anywhere.

Below the fields where you can enter information about your new point of interest you will find a map and below that a little icon to add pictures.

To check your points of interest you can use the list icon in the top left corner. There you will have also the option to search for other Poi’s. Just enter a keyword or #hashtag and then click search. Your hits will be shown in a list form and selecting a location will provide you more information.

If you prefer to see your Poi on a bigger screen you can also go to the website and check out your story page. Ours is for example http://www.mypoiapp.com/story/teccrab and shows the points of interest we have saved so far. Another feature is the Tag map where you can find Poi’s around you based on a tag check http://www.mypoiapp.com/map/viewpoint as an example.

As mentioned earlier, the application is still in the development stage but shows already promising features. We had the chance to meet Clint Liang, the developer of MyPoi, and to talk to him about his application. He is very excited about the feedback he got so far and is working on implementing a web based interface for users to create POI’s online. He mentioned that it would be great to get even more users involved, because the feedback from them will help to develop an application they like. If you are interested to learn more about MyPoi please follow the links below:

Google / YouTube Copyright controversy

Posted on Updated on

VideoProductionThis topic won’t be an easy one. Let us start with an important information. We are no copyright lawyers, we provide Public Relations and Marketing Services. We advise and remind our clients to create and use their own images, content, music, video footage and explain them the risks when using material from other sites. Our support and advise is based on our own experience and certainly not a legal advise.

In this post we will express our own opinion and we hope to support some healthy discussions that have already been started. For the purpose of this post we will refer to videos created by video content creators on YouTube. We also want to mention that we try to keep this post simple and advise that you should keep in mind that this topic is actually more complicated as expressed in this post. However we hope it will still help to get an idea what is happening at the moment on YouTube.

Let’s get started.

Event-Banner(Supporter)We started working with Mario Schiopu from MarioFit.ca in September 2012. Mario is a Karate Champion, Krav Maga Instructor, registered Holistic Nutritionist & Sport Nutrition Advisor, a Certified Fitness Consultant and experienced Athletic Performance Coach, Mario is one of the most passionate researchers on Fitness, Nutrition and Healthy Aging. When he turned 50 his goal was to raise awareness for a healthy lifestyle by participating in the 2012 BC Karate Championship Tournament. Mario was facing in the tournament much younger champions and won in the end the silver medal. MarioFitFightingForKids.com had 7 official Sponsors and 32 official Supporters. We raised for the Children’s Hunger Fund and the BC Children Hospital more than $4,000. In summer 2013 Mario received the Champions for Change Award for this event.

Beside this fantastic achievement Mario also realized during the time we worked with him the power of social media and with our help he started updating his Blog more frequently. He is posting about various health, fitness and self defence related topics on his Blog MarioFit.ca in English and Romania.

He also became involved in the Vancouver Martial Arts Academy, started training Josh to become the next Karate Champion, gave self defence classes in various community centres, schools and even the UBC.
